Spokane Area Home For Sale

Live 20 minutes from work in Downtown Spokane while you live the life you dreamed with land, a lake and a state park as your back yard!

Our house

This is a great neighborhood tucked away between Lake Spokane/Long Lake (the Spokane River) and Riverside State Park.  Osprey overhead, the sound of the falls over the dam in the distance, the wind through the pines, and the occasional moose that wanders through.

There's a nice mix of families with children as well as the retired crowd.  You have a private park with two boat docks to launch your boat, a beach area, covered picnic area and a new playground going in as I type.  If you prefer to dock your boat all summer, there is a privately owned spot for that as well along a canal in the neighborhood.

The house has been well cared for and we added a brand new kitchen and flooring on the first floor.  Front porch to watch the sunset, white picket fence and lots of mature landscaping. Large deck in back with a hot tub. Huge shop out back for all your toys...and you can fit a lot of them in there too!  Large vegetable garden all planted and ready for you to harvest this summer!  Plus more! See the pictures by viewing a virtual tour of the home:

We are ready to wheel and deal!  Or maybe nowadays it's Deal or No Deal...not sure what the hip thing to say is any more.  I do know that if we find a buyer we can work out a much better deal for you than going through two real estate agents!  So leave a comment to this post if you would like more info about the house.

Spring Cleaning

There is nothing as freeing as throwing things away!  Spring cleaning...a true one...is such a release.  We had wrapped up some projects and are preparing to sell our house so it was time to clean things out.  We rented this 6 yard dumpster and started throwing...and throwing...and throwing.

Dumpster_2

We filled it to the brim!  It's kind of scary how easily it filled up.  It makes me wonder if we had gotten a larger one, would we have filled that one up as easily?  I'd like to think that we aren't quite that bad at collecting stuff.  Though I do have to admit that we had a few boxes of stuff that we never unpacked after our last move!  So how many of you out there have boxes from a move that you never unpacked?  Be honest...there are more of you out there.  It isn't just me!  Is it?

How did you spend Mother's Day?

So did you do something fun?  My family told me a few days ago that we were going to do something special for Mother's Day next weekend.  Like I said earlier, the 11th is just another day as a mom.  I used half a tank of gas shuttling kids to all the places we needed to be.  Soccer, Jr. Lilac Parade, more soccer, grocery store, video store, church, more soccer....it was a busy weekend.  So the girls and their dad have some sort of fun planned for next Sunday afternoon.  I can't wait to see what they are planning.  I have my ideas though.

It was too cold and windy to be outside doing yardwork out here On The Edge.  So we rented a movie and watched it instead.  It was nice to have a lazy two hours on a Sunday afternoon.  I haven't had a chance to do that in a long time.

But it was apparently warm enough for my mom to spend time outside on Mother's day.  Big Daddy sent me this picture of her working away in the yard....

Yes, that's quite a yard and one tough Grammy! She has her own special harness just for carrying that weed eater!  How many sixty something year olds can still do this?  Go Mama!

This is What Happened to Us

100_1451_2

This would be part of the contents of our kitchen counter, plus two dozen assorted tools, and right in the foreground is our vaccuum...handle...which I bonded with over the past two weeks.  It will probably have to be retired soon because it just can't keep up with us, our projects and three dogs in the midst of spring shedding.

100_1452

Why have we created such a huge mess?  Well we have a few, actually quite a few we discovered, unfinished projects around the house.  There was painting...I kept meaning to do it...but it was too tall for our measly ladder.  And I just got tired of painting.  It's much more fun when it's a mural on a wall.  But plain old wall washing, spackling, blue tape, multiple coats of paint, and just the darn aroma, and I'm ready to run screaming into the forest!  (good thing we put a fence up last year...or I might have done it!)

So I painted the stairwell both up to the 2nd floor and down to the basement. The upstairs hallway, the downstairs bathroom and touch up everywhere!

DD got the  baseboards and window trim up that needed to be done for over a year!

The girls shoveled poop!  Lots of it.  Then they hid out until it was time to paint the front porch railing.  Guess they were afraid of the next task they would be given.  Poop was definitely a bottom of the food chain type job!

Tiling the kitchen backsplash was a joint job.  I laid the tiles...and DD became literally one with the grout.  Grouting he discovered is a lot like marriage...once you start, you can't stop till you are done!  I guess you could get divorced, but then you'd be left with a half done project to do all by yourself!

So what do you think of our novice work:

This is the before...

and after...

Don't even ask how many trips to town to pick tile samples this took to reach completion.  It was rediculous...but now I'm happy it's done.  And I like it too!  We became such pros at tiling that we decided to finish off the fireplace as well....

There's trim around it now as well.  It looks real sharp!

Our windows are done now as well....all trimmed out.  It makes them look so much bigger.  I love them!

Now that we finally finished the kitchen it's ready to sell.....oops! Did I say that out loud?

Kitchen Remodel

Ooops!  I realized I didn't get a chance to show the after pictures from our kitchen remodel.  Bear in mind the final photo of our kitchen is as it is now...lived in!  I didn't clean up every nook and cranny for the photo...thought it could look real and lived in!

This was taken during the flurry of Thanksgiving cooking this morning.  Kind of messy!

But oh, so much counter space now!  And room to move!
