Here's a new category. Friday's laugh. The only thing better than starting the week with a laugh is ending the week with one. Guess everyday could use a good laugh for that matter.
Here is a very funny blog. I'm afraid to share it though because I'd hate to give my husband any ideas. He says I talk in my sleep. His favorite past time is to talk to me when I'm doing it so I keep doing it! Then the next morning he mercilessly teases me! He's such a stinker!
The blog is called Sleep Talkin' Man. His wife not only posts what he says, but she records him too! I'm not sure if the woman sleeps or not...but she must stay up late to be able to record these jewels of the sleep talking world!
Here are some samples of what she has caught him saying (these are the rated G ones--LOL):
"Oh, just think about what you said. That is, if you can spare the grey matter from remembering how to breathe."
"Jellyfish are attacking. Everybody grab your ice cream guns. Let's get those little things!"
"It's the belly button button. Press it and go to hell!"
Visit for a fun Friday chuckle! Have a great weekend!
Well, the chickens are in their new home. They are happy to have the room to stretch their wings as well as their personalities. It took a few weeks to get it built due to the combination of bad weather and DD's work schedule. The girls helped him a lot after school.
His current schedule on graveyards...pretty much stinks for trying to get projects done. His days off during the week are great, but when it's a two person project, it pretty much does stink! One more month and hist days off will be my days off.
So here are the pictures "As the Coop Rose...."
We never seem to be able to get both girls to wear clothes at the same time. Pajamas are just too comfortable. Apparently it's the weekend uniform!
Notice the feet...yes, they are attached to one of my children. Apparently building projects with dad always require them to be on the roof at some point.
Almost finished...just the roof...ah, but it's time to head back to work.
Next days off...roof and doors were finished.
The girls are very happy! Goldilocks likes the color scheme! She thinks it's all for her!
The rest of the girls are happy too.
"the roost is mine, all mine!" says Goldilocks. "Don't even think about it!" replies Buckbeak.
So last night the weather man actually mentioned 70 in his weather report. Not as 70% chance of rain, but as in the temperature!! Yeah! I can't wait to be hot! Yes, 70's will seem hot after the last few weeks of cold weather. Maybe I will, heaven forbid, break into a sweat! The only down side is that warm weather equals excessive chattiness in 7 year olds. It probably also increases the loss of teeth! Ick!
Here are some pictures from the 6 acre woods. I didn't see too many flowers until I started looking really closely. The first flowers are pretty and tiny.
The nest boxes weren't up for more than a couple hours when the birds took them over! The girls made these boxes with dad a few years ago. Simple, homemade boxes were the birds' favorites.
This maple looks like it's blooming twice during the year. First when it gets its leaves and then in the fall when the leaves change color.
I have to look this one up. Not sure what it is, but it has the beginnings of a neat flower. I call it the brussel sprout plant. Looks like mini brussel sprouts.
We started with 6 chicks 6 weeks ago. They were so tiny and cute.
They were just a little handful!
6 little peeps that were so very small in the brooder box.
Now...these little eating and pooping machines grew quickly. DD battled to get a chicken coop built to move them to. Partly because they are too big for the brooder, but also because our ducklings are here! We couldn't bring them home the first day because we lost power during a big windstorm...so 24 hours later, two anxious girls were relieved when we brought home the next set of babies.
These little ducklings are adorable. I just love their little webbed feet.
The yellow one will turn white when she gets her feathers. She's our Aflac duck. Pretty fitting for CC to choose this one. :-)
Lets see how quickly these babies will grow. Hopefully they will get big enough to hold their own up against 6 chickens.
Happy Mother's Day everyone! I hope that you have a wonderful day. The weather is supposed to be nice here in North Idaho. We shall see. The mountains and the clouds just cause nothing but headaches for the local weather people as well as for those under those clouds. If the weather holds, I plan to be in the garden as much as possible today. Maybe a short break to pick up butter so we can watch a movie and have popcorn tomorrow evening, but then back to the garden.
Here's a mama picture from down the road from us. This baby is so darn cute.
My friend Jeni. She is amazing. She used to be sort of into scrapbooking when I first met her when she lived in Cutten, California. She had a little online business that she started out of her home selling scrapbooking embellishments. I was always amazed at the cool stuff she had to play with for scrapbooking. I was inspired by the pages she made and was always excited to get little goodies from her (her daughter was in my class at the time--so every holiday was a wonderful card with some fun goodies in it for me to play with).
Then my friend Jeni moved far away to Idaho. But thanks to the internet, we remained friends. I watched as she outgrew her little home scrapbook store and instead sold her talents as a scrapbooker and artist! You could open famous scrapbook magazines and see her art in it. Or go to websites and see her work there.
Now she has moved her talents again. This time toward photography! Wow...she takes that amazing skill of scrapbooking--with the eye for color, balance and creativity--and has started a photography business. Her photos are amazing! Here is one of my latest favorites:
I love this one! She could have just taken the pose with the Idaho bride holding the shotgun, but instead, she threw the flowers in front of her. Now the picture tells a story! Man she is awesome! I wish I could be young again and have her do my wedding photos! WOW! You can see more of her work here. And if you are anywhere near Twin Falls, Idaho...book a session!
