SpokaneMama
It's Tuesday morning and so far the phone hasn't rung to ask me to substitute at one school or another...which is just fine. Actually it's a huge sigh of relief. It's hard to say no when they call. The money is so useful, but having another day to work on my business is invaluable.
www.SpokaneMama.com is my business (for those of you just stopping by today). It's a website full of cool and valuable information for mothers and well, families in general. This particular site is focused toward the Inland Northwest (eastern WA and northern ID). There are 13 sites around the country right now, but if you aren't near one of the thirteen, you can still benefit from the oodles of resources common to all the sites.
The best part is that it's FREE for the user. And there are always great giveaways and deals to make a mom's life easier or at least more fun!
Running, and especially starting, a business is overwhelming! I'm doing it on my own. Some of the sites have partners. It's not that I'm not good at sharing in the sand box, but there wasn't anyone I knew who would be interested in starting it up with me. So I'm going to ask for some help and advice from anyone out there who's willing to share.
1. Looking for a good local bank (Spokane area). This site is all about helping the local community, so I'd like to keep my banking business local--if there's a good supportive bank out there!
2. I'm getting my business license paperwork done, but I'm stuck on the LLC versus sole proprieter versus s-corp versus sticking my head in the sand and screaming! How in the world do you decide? There are so many different reasons to go in all those directions.
3. Which leads to how to pick a good attorney and or accountant to help you out? I had an awesome one where we used to live...in another state...but the only ones I've had experience with here, I wouldn't trust with my business matters let alone my dog! If anyone knows anyone's brother's neighbor's cousin's girlfriend who is just awesome...let me know.
4. The Spokane Forum section of the site. I need people to give thoughts and input. My two current topics are about Apple recipes and Halloween Costumes. Nothing overly controversial, but people don't seem compelled to leave their feedback or ideas even though I know they are hitting the site.
Well... thanks for the help (I'm eternally optimistic as long as it doesn't relate to public schools). If you'd like to email me rather than post, that would be fine too.

Congrats to you on starting your own business!!
I just wanted to let you know about a free giveaway I'm hosting at my site. It's for all-natural bath and body products made in Texas. Come check it out - and help spread the word!
Thanks!
